Ted Spence graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry; however, his passion for metalsmithing prompted non-typical studies in bronze casting, machining, and art.
Ted began his career as a Research Chemist and Engineer. He spent his time developing and manufacturing products for various U.S. Department of Defense applications. While the technical aspects of his career came naturally, he desired a profession with a more creative outlet.Ted’s passion for metalsmithing, his chemical and engineering background, and his entrepreneurial spirit made transitioning into metalsmithing a natural progression.
In 2017, Ted and his wife, Ashleigh, founded Mamba Metals. Together, they utilize lost wax techniques, additive manufacturing, and novel chemistry to make unique jewelry, jeweler supplies, and everyday carry gear. "
